Overview of Windows Registry The Windows Registry is a central hierarchical database in all generations of Microsoft Windows. The register is used for information which is necessary to reconfigure the entire system for the user to store applications and hardware devices. The registry entry contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users and settings of your computer and operating system. Whenever a user installs changes to the Control Panel settings, file associations, system policies, or software, the changes are reflected and stored in the registry.

When and Why do Registry Problems occur? If your system is new, you usually do not notice that any changes to your registration, however, effect the passage of time you are registering as Add and remove software and hardware your to grow computer. These additions and deletions will cause your Windows registry, too fragmented, corrupted or full of errors. The process of registration problem usually occurs after 1 to 2 years after the new installation, depending on how many hardware and software you have installed and uninstalled during that period. What is the most common registry problems? Some problems may occur within your registry and are typically connected to the registry fragmentation, and corrupt, unused, missing, orphaned or obsolete entries. The fragmentation can be a serious problem and is usually caused by the fact that certain processes continually and incrementally modify the same values in the registry This fragmentation in certain cases a register file sizes can be excessive and eventually exceed the Registry Size Limits imposed by Windows. This leads to the failure of any subsequent changes to the registry.

Other errors included in the registry: • integrity and registry entries, including shell folder “My Documents, profiles and favorites.
• Software locations including missing, orphaned, broken or bad application / Windows paths and links.
• Unused, obsolete Start Menu items.
• Redundant Startup applications and uninstalled application schedulers.
• Orphaned shortcuts, temporary (. tmp) files and Scandisk or checkdisk fragment (. chk) files.
• Unwanted Objects browser.
• Corrupt Active X / COM objects.
• Missing or corrupt application IDs.
• Obsolete shared DLLs and folders.
• Unused help file references.
• Residual and unused files.
• software remains uninstalled.
• Unused and unwanted drivers
• File extensions and associations.
• Unnecessary files and recent documents list. Is my PC free of Registry problems? statistics show that about 94% damage to the computer and may have harmful files. On average, almost every PC have over 150 + errors on them due to damaged or missing registry entries. Although a more detailed analysis is required, it is very likely that even if your computer system is new or you encounter serious problems are not visible, you already have some problems in the registry. The more frequent symptoms of registry problems: Frequent error messages, slow start-ups, sluggishness, declining performance, stalls, a serious deterioration in the operating speed, unstable and frequent application errors and crashes, and sometimes even an inability to start Windows. If you are system crashes, or if some of your applications are installed, freezing or seizing for no apparent reason, your best bet is to defragment, clean and repair your registry.

corrupt registry fix and keep clean the registry? fragmented How to keep your system free of problems and registry entries

is difficult even for most experienced users. The task is daunting and rather confusing, because it requires so many registry entries and detailed knowledge of all changes take effect damage is not.
Why and when registry slows down the computer?

Registry structure of the operating system saves all the registry files related to the software which are frequently installed and removed from computer. It keeps track of all the DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files of all the installed components. Registry needs to be monitored and troubleshoot on regular basis, for healthy processing of computer.

According to the research made by computer repair agencies that almost 90% computing power of computers is affected by corrupted registry files. Most of the computer systems report errors due to missing important registry files.

The registry is affected only when you have installed programs on the computer and uninstall them after some time. Most of the time uninstall utility dose not work properly, and leaves some unnecessary files in the computer. The size of the registry grows and makes use of large space of memory. Frequent addition and deletion of software from computer gives rise to the registry fragmentation, corruption and registry failure.

Most common problems of the computers, when registry fails are listed below

	Corrupted applications show error while opening an application

	Useless and failed objects related to browser like temporary internet files which occupy a lot of space of primary drive

	Missing files related to applications installed on the computer

	Damaged components of active X and COM objects by adding and removing new system files to them.

	Reliability of registry files becomes suspected

Being a layman, a computer user is not much familiar to cope with such kind of computer problems. Some of the symptoms are mentioned below, which indicate the failure of registry files.

	Slow speed of processor

	Very low performance

	Instability in the application’s processing

	Frequent errors while work is in progress

 A very slow startup of windows

 In most severe case, windows denies from getting started.

These problems are only encountered when programs are constantly installed and removed from the computer. Some of the files are left behind in computer registry even the un-installation process is finished. Such files create problems for the operating system to work properly. The best solution for this issue is to scan the whole computer and use of efficient registry cleaner software.

Unfortunately, registry problems are that much trickier to deal with and you’ll find that a lot of the time, even though you’ve removed a program, it still leaves some stray references in the core file of Windows files. This is a primary cause for a large number of registry problems. Nowadays with very technical scanning software, you can easily fix registry problems within short time. The primary reason to fix registry problems is so you won’t get to the point that your system will no longer run at all. Then it may be too late. All that is probably needed is a good registry scan software and you are good to go.

Problems with the Windows™ registry are a common cause of Windows™ crashes, slow performance and error messages. By using a registry cleaner regularly and fixing registry errors your system should not only be more stable but it will also help improve your system performance without expensive hardware upgrades. What this means is, before you go out and spend money on memory, try cleaning the registry first. It’s a cheap way to find out if that is all you need. Some people report that their computer has stopped crashing and is running at least 3 times faster than before. And those are pretty typical results. By using registry cleaners regularly your system should not only be more stable but it will run faster.

Because of poorly written or corrupted device drivers, bad memory or a memory conflict causing a crash, a damaged registry, or conflicting dll’s – most people would fault the PC in whole – when it is most likely the registry area. In Windows versions 95,98, and ME you may also get a message stating that there was a virtual device driver crash and it will give you the option to restart your computer. These errors that cause crashing, slowness, instability are generally because of registry problems. And it’s a quick fix – run the diagnostics tool, identify the precise problems in your Windows registry so you can determine exactly what your PC is suffering from. Any error or corruption of registry files can cause crash of the system or halt the system from time to time.

Eventually, when you don’t fix a slow or corrupt PC, it get relegated to the corner, or the kids work area and you buy something new. This is really a crime because registrys can be fixed and since they are only lines of code – they can be rewritten, or changed. Back in the day, we were bold and attempted to change registry settings ourselves – with some guides printed out from the Internet. But I can remember more than once crippling my computer to a stand still. Those were the days when if it didn’t work, you simply reinstalled Windows.

I guess what I’m trying to get at, is that you no longer have to go the road of trying and further frustrating yourself with a hack at your precious registry. Someone got smart and created software that first analyzes the settings in the registry. Then it tells you what it will do if you would like it to repair what it believes are errors. And someone was even sharp enough to create a registry backup before committing to changes. Man, I wish I would have thought of that!

So if you have been wondering if registry repair software is something you should try, yes – I’m going to recommend them to you. Simply because you can always revert.

As you can see, each time you run your registry cleaner, the registry does get backed up – not overwritten. This is very important, because there are some registry cleaners that actually overwrite the backed-up entry, each time. You don’t want that, because then you can only go back to the bad state you had before you started. You want to be able to go back from the first time you ran the software.

If you have any questions about registry cleaning and optimizing, simply drop me an email in our Contact Page. And thank you for your visit. I trust you learned something useful.

If you want to learn more about registry repair tools then take a few moments to read over this article. More specifically we’ll discuss the types of problems you might be experiencing, what causes these problems, and how registry repair tools can help solve the issue. Most of the registry repair tools are downloadable through Internet, thus giving you the freedom to choose over a variety of brands available. The convenience for accessing the same gives you the independence plus the added knowledge of repairing the PC all by yourself. You will also learn about the different registry repair tools that can make repairing your system registry simple and easy. Find out how to get a free registry scan here.

The debates continue to rage over whether registry repair tools really help. However, I think the first question is, do they hurt? And the answer is, most don’t. But don’t trust everything you see out there. Watch it in action if you can. Knowing what registry repair tools are and how to use them is necessary with today’s huge operating systems. This is because the registry is the most important part of the Operating System.

When we go on working with our PC’s, installing software, working on the net etc, we accrue registry entries that many times do not get cleared out. Registry problems are more common in older versions of the Windows operating systems, but even on Vista, I found over 2000 errors – many simply empty registry entries. There are tools available to assist with editing and cleaning the registry, and they may be the best way to handle your registry problems without causing undue damage to your system.

Whenever you clean the Registry, you will notice improvement. This is because the computer uses the registry to locate where things are. Empty entries simply slow down the process. What is great about registry repair tools, like Registry Easy, is that you can revert back to your former entries by reinstalling the old registry file you save after your scan. Registry Easy can simplify the process of cleaning up your hard drive and save you valuable time. It can detect and delete obsolete files, recovering wasted hard drive space.

Displaying of the Blue Screen of Death occurs when Windows cannot recover from a system error. In most cases you need to reboot the computer to get it started again. Many times this is a simple fix that requires clearing out some erroneous data either in the registry, or elsewhere. If you’re having these sorts of problems, a registry repair tool can help.

In addition to repairing the registry, many registry repair tools will also come with bonus features, such as memory optimizers, duplicate file finders, junk file finders, fixes for Internet Explorer, and more. Pay close attention that the software offers a way to back out of the “fix” and allows you to revert in case the “fix” doesn’t really happen – or you get unexpected results.

Finally, look for a registry repair tool that offers a nice discount. All of the professional tools will have these discounts simply because they know you will become a big fan of the software, as I did with Registry Easy. They know that taking a few dollars off the top will be OK, because you’ll be coming back for other tools they release. Many people take advantage of the discounted software updates or upgrades because as Windows changes with new update, the registry repair tool will have to be updated as well.

If you have any questions about registry repair, please write me using the contact form on the right. And thank you for stopping by the site.
